The matches of the test series between India and Australia have been rescheduled and as per the new schedule, the first match, which was to be played in Brisbane, will now be played in Adelaide, while, the second match will take place in Brisbane.
There have been changes made in dates as well. The series will start on 9th of December now.
This rescheduling has increased the possibility of the visitors playing under their regular captain MS Dhoni in the first test.
Dhoni is all set to make his way to Australia on Friday, but, the challenging thing for him will be to get rid of his jet lag ahead of the Adelaide game.
The members of the Indian selection committee are understood to be going to hold a meeting tomorrow and they would definitely talk about Dhoni there, but, they would not be making any decision regarding that.
It has been left on Dhoni to make the decision to play or not to play. The BCCI sources say if the Indian captain feels he is ready to take the ground in Adelaide, he would do that. Otherwise, Virat Kohli, as planned earlier, would lead the team.
In the meantime, the Indian team would be playing a practice match. It would be a 2-day fixture starting from this Thursday.
The previous practice match scheduled for the touring party was abandoned because of the untimely demise of the beloved Australian player Phillip Hughes.
The Indians are currently in Adelaide only, having light practice sessions. A few Indian players would be travelling to Hughes’ hometown tomorrow to take part in his funeral.
It is certainly a very tough time for the visiting team as well. They would not have expected themselves to be in such situation on the tour.
