The opening batsman of the Australian Cricket Team, Aaron Finch, seems to be struggling a bit at his new franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad in the ongoing IPL. He has consistently failed at the top of the order and that has affected the overall performance of his team.
Finch was probably the best batsman in the world in the shortest format of the game last year. Because of that, SRH spent a big amount of money to buy him during the auction. The franchise had huge hopes from him, but, half of the tournament is gone and the Victorian right hander is yet to make a match winning impact.
It’s not that Finch has been out of nick. He has actually been seeing the ball well and hitting some good shots early on in his innings, but, after getting to 20-25, he has been throwing away his wicket.
The Sunrisers depend a lot on their opening combination. They don’t have a solid middle order as the other IPL teams. They don’t have world class finishers either. So, it’s very important for Finch to start delivering as the business end of the tournament is approaching.
However, Finch is not the only Australian in the Sunrisers squad. His good friend and ODI opening partner, David Warner, is also playing for the same franchise, but, his form has been good. The powerful left hander has already had three half centuries under his belt in 7 matches.
As far as the Sunrisers’ position in the IPL points table is concerned, they are at no. 5 at the moment behind the Kolkata Knight Riders. They have won 3 out of the 7 matches that they have played so far and thus, they have got 6 points in the bag.
